An emerging sailing destination, the Koh Chang National Park is a group of more than 50 islands, which includes the island of Koh Chang itself, which is the second largest in Thailand after Phuket.
Like the Similan islands, Koh Chang is made from granite rock with a terrain of high peaks and steep cliffs providing a magnificent backdrop to a coastline surrounded by clear waters. The archipelago as whole is famous for its abundant coral reefs and long sandy beaches, and its lush waterfalls that are found inland.
Located 340 miles south of Bangkok, Koh Samui is one of Thailand's most sought-after destinations. Koh Samui offers a beautiful sailing area with some 80 tropical islands most of which are deserted.
Away from the beaches there is much to see and do on Samui itself with great restaurants to dine in, as well as golf, bungy jumping, elephant trekking, canopy tours, Thai cooking courses or elephant jungle safaris.
The islands and beaches of Phuket and Phang Nga Bay are world-famous, and this region is known as the yachting hub of Asia with 4 marinas already built and more planned. Phuket's international airport, 5-star resorts, gourmet restaurants, villas and shopping centres make it an ideal base for yachts.
The bay of Phang Nga, sheltered on 3 sides, and dotted with over 100, islands is notable for its excellent anchorages, perfect beaches, crystal clear waters and flat calm seas during the dry season.
Northwest of Phuket and Phang Nga Bay are the Similan and Surin Islands which have a deserved reputation for the best scuba diving in Thailand. Whale sharks, Manta rays and Leopard sharks are common sightings in a dramatic boulder-covered underwater world. In the Similan and Surin, Nine Marine National Park islands offer not just a diver's paradise, but above water the beautiful landscapes harbour a balanced and untouched tropical ecosystem.
